A pioneer in his field and of the Grenoble electro scene, Michel Amato’s contributions to music have been immense. As the Hacker, he has made inspired music that has influenced generations of dance music and listeners. His music has materialized with Amato Live, a full actualization of his work. Oscillating between new wave, acid, and techno, this live machine is a furtive retrospective of the career of the producer who, supported by a massive light show, lends itself perfectly to the immersive live experience. Amato spent his younger years absorbing futuristic Techno sounds from Detroit, bands like Depeche Mode, New Order, Kraftwerk, and Front 242, as well as Italo Disco and Acid House. Given the breadth of his influences, it’s no surprise Amato's own discography defies simple definition, covering a wide range of styles in the years since his first release in 1996. His appearance at MUTEK.SF 2019 will see the NA premiere of Amato Live.
