As Diagraf, Montréal-based DJ, VJ, designer, and filmmaker Patrick Trudeau constructs mesmerizing visual narratives deeply linked to music. His visual style combines minimalist graphic elements and complex evolutive particles systems with emotive cinematic content. Keenly tuned in to the sounds of the musicians and producers he works alongside, Diagraf often creates original content inspired by their music, calling himself a reverse filmmaker as he edits his images live while the musical performance unfolds. As well as launching his Unreal Dwelling Studio in 2009 for his various projects, Trudeau also produces music and video with audiovisual performance group Orbital Mechanics, honing his craft with the latest technology and increasingly working with generative elements and immersive content to develop a visual language that crosses sensory boundaries. At home in dome, multiscreen and all manner of performative contexts, Diagraf has intertwined his images with the music of Ricardo Villalobos, Max Cooper, Voices From the Lake, Pheek, The Field and more.
Diagraf’s appearance is made possible thanks to the support of CALQ (Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec).
